Daniel Tosh hilarious recounts the full plot of the supremely gross, transgressive horror film, The Human Centipede:

A few days after I successfully defended my dissertation last year, one of my best friends and I went out for a celebratory dinner and afterwards decided to see a movie on the spur of the moment. We went down to the artsy Independent Film Channel theater in the Village and saw what they were showing. We noticed that there was going to be a special showing of The Human Centipede after which the cast would director would come out and talk to the audience. From the poster and the title I (inaccurately) guessed this would be a movie like one of my all time favorites, The Fly and I thought it would be fun to see a film followed by the chance to see the filmmakers live.

It wasn’t like The Fly. It was, instead, unbelievably gross and horrific, laughably campy, and at times a good thriller. I don’t know that I would say I liked it, but I will surely always remember it and always joke about it with my friend. I could not evaluate it in traditional terms and so I completely approved of Roger Ebert’s choice when it came time for him to rate the film:

I am required to award stars to movies I review. This time, I refuse to do it. The star rating system is unsuited to this film. Is the movie good? Is it bad? Does it matter? It is what it is and occupies a world where the stars don’t shine.

The cast was really, really nice and approachable afterwards.
