Florida Redistricting Ruled Unconstitutional

A state judge in Florida has declared the redestricting maps drawn by the Republican-dominated legislature after the 2010 census was intentionally drawn to ensure Republican control and therefore is forbidden by the Florida state constitution. The Campaign Legal Center sent out this email on the ruling:

Republican Voter Fraud. Again.

Republicans are continually screaming about voter fraud and using absurd and vastly exaggerated data to “prove” it, but when real voter fraud is caught it’s usually done by Republicans. Here’s another example, a wealthy Republican donor in Wisconsin charged with 13 counts of voter fraud.

No Extreme is Too Extreme for GOP. Example 1,502,846.

Here’s yet another example of the undeniable fact that in today’s Republican party, it’s nearly impossible to say something so extreme that it will prevent you from winning office or get other Republicans to condemn you. Rep. Ted Yolo of Florida thinks only property owners should have the right to vote.

More Voter Fraud Hysteria at the Worldnetdaily

Right wing radio host Barry Farber has a column at the Worldnetdaily calling voter fraud a “serious threat to America.” As usual, he provides no evidence at all of such a threat or of widespread voter fraud and manages to distort the findings of one recent report on the subject.

Another Dishonest Report on Voter Fraud

Accuracy in Media, founded by Reed Irvine and now run by his even-dumber son Don Irvine, has released a breathless report on voter fraud. Predictably, it vastly overstates the problem — I mean by orders of magnitude — and cranks up the absurd rhetoric to 11.

Barton: Denying Women’s Suffrage Protects the Family

David Barton says a lot of really stupid, bigoted, moronic things, but this one still takes me a little bit by surprise. On his radio show Thursday he actually claimed that women were denied the right to vote as a means of protecting the family.

Judson Phillips Has a Thinking Problem

Some people have drinking problems; Judson Phillips of Tea Party Nation seems to have a thinking problem. In his latest missive, he stirs up a frothy mix of bad math, false assumptions and lies to claim that more than a million Democrats voted twice in the 2012 election, ensuring Obama the win.

Miami-Dade Closes All Bathrooms on Election Day

In one of the most staggering bits of malfeasance I’ve ever heard of, Miami-Dade County in Florida has decided to shut all the bathrooms at polling places on election day, preventing anyone in line to vote from going to the bathroom.

Root Claims Massive Voter Fraud

Wayne Allen Root, a birther and major conspiracy monger who was once the vice presidential candidate for the Libertarian Party, put out a video commentary a few weeks ago claiming that Obama only won in 2012 because “Democratic voters across this country are voting four times, five times, 10 times each for the Democrats.” His …

Another False Voter Fraud Freakout

It’s been a couple months since a state official announced that they had found vast numbers of possible instances of voter fraud, prompting a tsunami of outrage from Republican legislators who demand that Something Be Done. This time it’s North Carolina.

FL Purge Declared Illegal. Again.

Rick Scott’s 2012 voter purge, which was so blatantly illegal and the lists so inaccurate that even Republican county clerks in the state refused to go along with it, has been declared illegal (PDF) by a federal appeals court. The DOJ said at the time it was illegal and they’ve now been vindicated. The National …

Abbott’s Anti-Voting Rights Crusade

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, likely the next governor of that state, has been on a crusade against the “epidemic” of voter fraud, pushing a voter ID law and other measures, to stop it. But his office can only come up with a grand total of six cases in the last 13 years, two of …

O’Keefe’s Latest Bit of Stupid

The ongoing shitshow that is perpetual frat boy James O’Keefe continues to emit staggering amounts of idiocy. His latest undercover video, in which he dresses up as a hunter (I guess the pimp outfit was at the cleaners), has him asking a Republican congressman about an amendment he sponsored to the Voting Rights Act that …

Holder: Restore Felon Voting Rights

Attorney General Eric Holder gave a talk at a criminal justice symposium at Georgetown Law School and urged states to change their laws that restrict felons from voting after they serve their sentence. The federal government has no authority to order this, it’s up to the states. From his talk:

More Voter Fraud Lies

One of the leaders of a black conservative group is lying about voter fraud yet again and OneNewsNow, the American Family Association’s “news” outlet, is spreading that lie far and wide. In an article about a proposed update to the Voting Rights Act, you find this little gem:
