One by one they came to the podium to implore the banner committee to fight a losing fight paid for by their children’s future. They deserve a rebuttal.
Jim Forti deplored the climate of aggression and enmity the pro-appeal crowd had maintained for Jessica Ahlquist. Good for him. Sadly, being nice does not make someone more reasoned, as this video reveals.
Justin Griffith posted a blog the other day that caught my eye. He talks about Rev. Bryan Griem and his recent gripes on atheism in the military. While the military is Justin and Chris Rodda‘s domain, Griem touched on something that compelled me to take him to task.
Look, you just read the stats: “Researchers have found that spiritual people have decreased odds of attempting suicide, and that spiritual fitness has a positive impact on quality of life, on coping and on mental health.” Atheists be damned. They will be. So I really don’t care what they think regarding these tests. I’m tired of having their constant nagging, their constant opposition against God — their evil. They contribute nothing positive in the long run.Their very name, “a” theist, means they are “against,” with a big “no” regarding America’s “creator” and “Nature’s God” (the one mentioned in our Declaration of Independence).
So, as the story goes, Ernie Perce of PA participated in a zombie walk on Halloween with The Atheists of Central Pennsylvania dressed as Mohammad.
A Muslim man, Talaag Elbayomy did not appreciate this, and attacked him. Police charged Elbayomy with harassment, but the judge threw out the case, letting Elbayomy walk free.
Talaag Elbayomy said he was at the parade with his wife and two kids and felt he just had to do something. In fact, he too called police because he thought it was a crime for someone to depict Muhammed in such a way. He has since learned otherwise.
On March 21, Michaelyn and I will be road-tripping to Washington DC for the Reason Rally. We plan to make a day out of it and to live blog our adventures.
Do you guys know of anything we shouldn’t miss between Columbus and DC? Anybody wanna meet up for lunch/dinner along the way?
We also plan to hit the Smithsonian on the 22nd along with Christina, her hubby Chris, and also with Adam and Amanda Brown of Atheism Resource and We Are Atheism fame. Triple atheist date!
It should be remembered that non-Christians do science (and usually do so very well), but they cannot give an account for the very science they are doing without relying on the “borrowed capital” from the Christian worldview. According to Cornelius Van Til, unbelievers use the good gifts of God, which are spread throughout creation and on which they unknowingly depend in their thought and life, without giving God the glory.
Yeah, it’s that inane. This is the kind of thing that would make Richard Carrier double over in agony. I think I’ll email it to him as a practical joke.
I do not doubt for a single minute the Christians of Cranston felt deep conviction that the school banner needed to stay up. They showed up at meetings, they have some pretty sweet signs hanging there, and took time out of their schedule to send violent death threats to a high school student, all while basking in the warm glowing embrace of their Lord.
Most importantly, JT Eberhard is humanity's best chance in a zombie apocalypse.
Less importantly, he is a campus organizer and high school specialist with the Secular Student Alliance. Once an opera singer, he now resides in Ohio where he occupies his time by helping atheist students to win at activism! In 2008 JT brought the gold medal in cuddling back to the United States and is presently in training for 2012. Eberhard also spent eleven years on the Candy Land pro circuit before retiring in 2010. Hate mail, overt gratitude, religious people trying to convert me, marriage requests, threats and all other non-comment material should be sent to wwjtd21[at]gmail[dot]com.
